Volunteering
The gift of your time is very valuable to us. There are many ways volunteers can help, from working at events and exhibitions, to fundraising and guiding visitors around our museums. We are keen to recruit more volunteers from a variety of backgrounds with a range of different skills. As a volunteer, you can make a huge contribution to the work of The Trust and our museums.
The type of opportunities available include:
- Practical tasks like hedge-laying, tree planting, canal clear-ups, bird and bat box installations and dry-stone walling
- Customer service roles including museum guides, boat skippering, walks guides and assisting with arts and crafts activities for children at Trust and museum events
The projects which you can currently volunteer for are:-
- The Waterways Action Squad in the North West of England (open to ages 16-25 only)
- The Waterways Museum at Gloucester
- The Waterways Museum at Stoke Bruerne
- The National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port
- The Boat Museum Society at Ellesmere Port
- Green Action in Scotland (open to 16-24 year olds only)
- Friends of Auchinstarry Basin in Scotland
