Towpath Tidy events
As part of British Waterways’ annual canal clean up initiative, this year the Trust will be holding a ‘Towpath Tidy Week’ along the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals. Working with volunteers from the local community and schools, the week-long series of events will help to improve the canalside environment and encourage people to get more involved with their local waterway.
Each year The Waterways Trust Scotland runs a series of events to tidy up sections of towpath. During this year's 'Towpath Tidy Week' more than 200 volunteers are expected to turn out to help improve their local waterway environment, benefiting both people and wildlife.
Groups taking part in Towpath Tidy 2009 include:
Gavinburn Primary School, Holy Cross Nursery School, Kilsyth Primary, employees from the Royal Bank of Scotland, Twechar Primary School and Wyndford Primary School.
