Soon Cut, Auchinstarry Basin

The Trust has raised £10,000 to create a safe walking route from Auchinstarry to Croy, away from the main road to enable people from the local community to visit the canal and basin safely.

Currently between Auchinstarry and Croy there is only a narrow path next to a busy main road which can deter the local community from visiting the canal basin. In addition to connecting the town with the canal, the new safe path will create a better link with the local woodland and the Antoine Wall.

The Trust is working with the Forestry Commission Scotland on the project. The FCS also intends to create a native woodland at Nethercroy and expand the current area of woodland on this site. New signage and a route map will help visitors find their way along the path and enjoy the circular walks created.
