New reedbed for canal wildlife

With funding from Welcome to our Future, the Trust has helped to create a new reedbed alongside the Barge Canal at Salwarpe.

120,000 reeds have been planted at the site, creating a 2.4 hectare reedbed, providing an alternative home for a wealth of wildlife in the area. This new reedbed has been introduced to mitigate the removal of the equivalent amount of reeds in the canal as it is restored.
