Gateway Park (Hanbury Locks) play space

The Droitwich Canals Partnership formally opened the fantastic new Gateway Park on 12 September 2009 with a fun filled pirate themed event for local families.

At the centre of the new park is an exciting new play area specifically designed for the site, plus a new children's trail. The Gateway Park also features new information points designed by community artist, Richard Janes, created with help from local school children who visited the canal for inspiration.

The Gateway project has been funded by Biffaward, Worcestershire County Council, Wychavon District Council and local funder Welcome to our Future, with the construction work carried out free of charge by Morrison Construction.

Kim Chester, Development Manager for The Waterways Trust, explains: "Thank you to all our supporters for helping to create such a fantastic community space. As well as providing a superb gateway to the historic Droitwich Canals, the park also provides valuable local play facilities which aim to stimulate, entertain and educate."
