What we can do for you
We work with partners across the public and private sectors to
improve the quality of life for waterside communities across the
UK.
By working with together, you will benefit from over ten years
of specialised experience and be confident that best practice is
being applied to your project.
Our work encompasses five main areas:
Improved Learning
Together with West Cheshire College we are using
waterways to open up new learning opportunities for people living
in the Ellesmere Port area. Read more about the informal learning
project.
Environment & Heritage
An environmental improvement project at Auchinstarry
Canal Basin on the Forth & Clyde Canal, near Kilsyth.
As well as fundraising, we have involved school groups,
people with mental health problems and the local community who have
helped create the planting scheme and artwork to add colour and
interest to the site.
We have also established a Friends groups to ensure the
sustainability of the nature trail and gardens. Discover more about how we
have transformed this barren landscape into a focal point for
visitors and the local community.
Stronger Communities
Our annual week-long Rochdale Canal Festival
involves communities from Manchester, Oldham, Calderdale and
Rochdale. Working with a range of public and private partners we
have established a popular event to showcase the canal and
encourage the local communities to experience the waterway.
Environmental initiatives, water-based activities, guided walks
and cycle rides all help to instil a sense of pride and ownership
amongst the local population. Find out more about this community
festival.
Improved Health
In the largest initiative of its kind, we are
working with Birmingham Heartlands Primary Care Trust to develop
the Birmingham Heartlands Canal Ring into a resource to improve
community fitness and well-being. Discover more about this
innovative project.
Regeneration
One of the most significant waterway restoration
projects in the West Midlands. As part of the Droitwich Canals
Partnership, we raised nearly £500,000 for the restoration of the
town's two historic canals.
By securing public involvement through our arts and
interpretation projects and public appeal, we have helped ensure
local residents feel empowered and part of the restoration scheme.
