Droitwich Canals Gateway Park Launch
The Droitwich Canals Restoration Project is calling for all budding young shipmates to attend a fun filled pirate themed event this Saturday (12 September), to celebrate the opening of the Droitwich Canals Gateway Park, near Hanbury Wharf. Press are invited to the official opening ceremony at midday.
An exciting new play area which has been specifically designed for the site and a new children’s trail will also be unveiled for the first time. Children are invited to come and take part in a treasure hunt and get stuck into making pirate hats between 10.00am and 3.00pm. Also located at the Gateway site are new information points which were designed by community artist, Richard Janes and created with help from local school children, who visited the newly constructed canal for inspiration and ideas. The Gateway site project has been funded by Biffaward, Worcestershire County Council, Wychavon District Council and local funder Welcome to our Future, with the work carried out free of charge by Morrrison Construction. Free guided walks along the new sections of canal will also be available from the Droitwich Canal Trust stand located in Vines Park as part of the Salt Day celebrations. These will take place at 11.00am, 12.30pm and 2.00pm.
