Seal of approval for museum
VisitBritain has given the National Waterways Museum Gloucester Docks the thumbs up.
The tourism body has accredited the dock-side museum as a ‘Quality Assured Visitor Attraction’, formally recognising the excellent customer service and visitor experience on offer. VisitBritain’s Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service aims to assess the quality of the visitor experience and any aspects of an attraction’s operation that may impact on that overall quality. Doreen Davies, General Manager, said: “To achieve this accreditation demonstrates what a dedicated and enthusiastic team we have. “It is very rewarding to receive external accreditation from an organisation such as VisitBritain and to have the museum recognised for its excellent visitor experience.” The museum which charts the history of our nation’s inland waterways, was refurbished last year. Situated in the heart of the Docks it provides a focal point where people can get their bearings and learn about the history of the docks. Vibrant graphics and stimulating displays specially designed to appeal to children help to bring the fascinating story of our waterways to life. In addition to exploring the museum galleries visitors can also experience the canal and river with a boat trip and of course find refreshment in the café.
