Birthday party helps canal restoration
A couple from Droitwich have made the ultimate sacrifice in aid of the appeal to restore the town’s canals.
Bryan and Louise held a joint birthday celebration this year and instead of presents, asked guests to make a donation to the restoration appeal. Together, the couple have raised over £200 for the appeal. Kim Chester, from The Waterways Trust, the charity behind the fundraising appeal, said: “We are really touched that Brian and Louise wanted to mark their birthdays in this way. Obviously there will be a special place on the plaque in Vines Park to commemorate their donation. “Making a donation to the appeal is a really good idea if people are stuck for what to get for Christmas. £86.95 secures a metre of the canal and the gift recipient will have their name carved onto a special plaque to be mounted in Vines Park upon completion of the restoration.” Bryan and Louise would like to thank all their friends and family who supported them in this way.
