Cotswold Canals
Success for Stroud!
With your help we have won £60,000 for the restoration of the
Cotswold Canals.
The restoration project was selected by ITV's People's Millions
Lottery programme to face a public vote.
The Cotswold Canals Partnership will be able to use the funding
to upgrade the towpath around Stroud town centre and create a new
podcast heritage trail to bring Stroud's fascinating waterway
heritage to life.
Many thanks to everyone who showed their support by voting for
the project.
How we are helping to restore the Cotswold
Canals
We are working with our partners to restore the Cotswold Canals
from Stroud to Stonehouse in Gloucestershire.
As well as raising funds for the restoration, we are developing
a series of community-led projects to build connections between
people living in the area and the waterway.
Some of our achievements include:
- £40,000 from Gloucestershire Environmental Trust towards the
restoration of Ryeford Double Locks
- £80,000 from the National Lottery's People's Millions
competition to restore Brimscombe Port walls.
- £10,000 from SITA to create soft-bank protection along the
restored canal
- £10,000 from the Community Wildlife Fund to care for and
enhance the environment along the canal.
- £50,000 from Gloucestershire Environmental Trust to restore
Oilmills bridge.
You can get involved with this historic project too - make
a donation to our restoration appeal today.
