Birmingham Heartlands Canal Ring

Bringing the Heartlands Canal to Life

As part of a project led by  the charity The Waterways Trust, Zohra and Naseem are working with communities in the Bordesley, Saltley and Nechells areas of Birmingham to transform the Birmingham Heartlands Canal Ring into a dynamic community resource.

Since starting the project in April, interest amongst local residents has been immense.

So far Zohra and Naseem have set up a programme of healthy walks, organised  bicycle training, angling and craft activities.

The towpath along the canal is a great way to improve your lifestyle. Zohra and Naseem are working with lots of different groups, encouraging people to take steps towards healthier living.

The waterway is also a fantastic education resource and the team are hard at work putting together a resource pack for local schools about the canal, its history and wildlife.

Check out some of the projects we have established and get in touch with Zohra or Naseem for more information on any that interest you.
