New bat habitats - Chesterfield Canal
The Friends of Retford Cemetery have used their grant from the Trust's Small Grant Scheme to encourage and maintain the bat population at the cemetery which lies alongside the Chesterfield Canal in Nottinghamshire.
Funding has helped the group provide vital feeding sites and habitats for the bat population in the area. In addition to purchasing bat nesting boxes, planting appropriate flowers and plants to attract insects for bats to forge upon, the group has purchased bat detectors to use on community bat walks to help identify the different types of bat that can be found.
