Area Based Regeneration

This category considers large scale regeneration involving the construction or re-use of a number of buildings within an area adjacent to a waterway. The resulting scheme must be successfully integrated with the waterway and be responsive to both local and the wider strategic needs.

Entries for this category will represent regeneration on a significant scale. Quality of design and build within the project are also key to the development's success.

When entering your project, you should describe:

  • the benefits brought to the area in social, environmental and economic terms, and specifically how these meet local and/or regional needs.
  • the way in which it has taken a co-ordinated approach to delivering these benefits
  • any innovative methods that have been used to ensure future regeneration is stimulated.

The assessment panel will be looking for evidence of wide ranging consultation with stakeholders within the community and effective partnership working. The panel will also be interested in hearing how you overcame any significant issues and any lessons that have been learned.
